This is my face.

I’m Shane Melaugh and I’m a self-unemployed half-Swiss, half-Irish person.

That’s about as concise as I can make it.

I’ve always been obsessed with optimizing my life and improving myself in as many ways as possible. I’ve also always been equally disappointed with the fluffy wishy-washy-ness of most of the self-help material I’ve come across.

It’s tough being into personal developmentĀ and being pragmatic.

Explorative Approach is about various experiments I conduct (on myself) and their results (or lack thereof).

I hope what you find here can help you make your life more awesome and give you a very practical and sober look at how to build an awesome life.

Do or Do Not. There Is No Try.

Actually, there is try. There is a lot of try and a lot of err, in my experience.

Still a cool quote, though.

The more important point is this, though: personal development and living an awesome life are not things that I am “trying” or working towards or hoping to achieve someday.

I already live an extremely awesome life. I’ve been pursuing this for years now and I’ve been getting slow but steady results. I have overcome fears and inhibitions, I’ve built successful businesses, I live location independently and travel the world… and most importantly: I feel happy, fulfilled and grateful more often than not.

I didn’t start out this way, mind you. Everything I mentioned above (and much more), I achieved because I systematically worked on it. Because I tried to improve, failed, tried something different, failed again, tried again etc. until something finally took hold and I managed to make a step forward.

So, on this site you’ll find my current experiments as well as my story of how I got from there to here.

Enough of the self-aggrandizing stuff, though. As fond as I am of myself, this is about you, not me.

Have a read and let me know what you think.
